I polished off the Dave’s Killer/french bread this morning. For some reason my appetite has skyrocketed here and I can’t figure out if it’s the heat or just stress. I met up with Holly and Stephanie for the final day of orientation week, an all day festival, which was really just more of the same. After lunch, Stephanie and some others who had also had enough sitting in auditoriums listening to people talk about things we already knew came with me to the library to see if there was a different person behind the InfoHelp desk. After a lot of explaining, the guy I spoke with this time told me that technically they aren't allowed to help me but that if I filed a bogus complaint about a faulty wireless connection, I might be able to weasel my way into the system. Sure enough, this worked, and I have an appointment on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Just as I was finishing my four mile jog around 6 p.m., I noticed a lot of smoke nearby. I had been told about controlled burns upon arrival but I didn’t realize they were conducted so often or so close to campus. After taking photos, I joined Stephanie at the Rotary BBQ and played a little ping pong in the common room I didn’t realize existed. Holly asked me to go out with her a little later on, but I told her that since I don’t like to drink or dance I wouldn’t be any fun. Besides, I get tired so early I’d probably fall asleep before we got back.
