Bear with me

July 19, 2011
Today was the first day of orientation week at JCU. After a brief presentation in the same auditorium I went to last Friday, we broke up into groups that each had a mentor. I was a little worried about this based on the low performance evaluation Jane gave the mentor she had last semester, but thankfully I seemed to have more luck. The mentor I had, Tiffany, made a sincere effort to get us to converse with each other, show us the important buildings, and answer all our questions. She even got all our e-mail addresses so she could check up on us throughout the semester. I ended up hanging out with two of the girls from the group for a couple hours later on after we got turned away from a workshop that had a limited number of computers. It would be nice to have some classes with them so I’m not just going to rooms full of strangers.

Hopefully I won't feel this way.

Jane and her mom are helping me move the remainder of my stuff, including the food I bought today, into my dorm room in the morning. I can't say this was my idea, since I currently have no air conditioning or internet access in that room. Besides, I arrived about 36 hours before school started at WSU and managed just fine, so I figure 16 weeks is plenty of time to get to know the others on my floor. At least I won't have to ask for any more rides to JCU, and I will get the chance to exercise after two weeks off. I think the fresh air and time spent away from my computer will be good for me.
