Icing on the cake

July 16, 2011

Today Jane took me and one of her friends, Zoe, to the local aquarium called REEF HQ where she and her sister Alice used to volunteer. We got in for free because of this! Among other things, we interacted with a scuba diver while she was in the water, went to their turtle hospital, and touched certain animals in a special pool. I took photos of everything because I had never seen half the plants and animals, except in Finding Nemo, but that was animated and before I realized they actually existed. We were also going to go to the Strand, which is the nearest beach, but Zoe had to work and after we dropped her off it looked like it might rain, so we headed home instead.

The octopus could change color!

To occupy my afternoon, I decided to bake cupcakes. The frosting, especially, turned out surprisingly well, and there were only four left by the end of the day. One did get thrown out because their friend Bob stopped by and titled the plate they gave him until the cupcake slid off, landing sunny side down. They gave him another, but this time it was put in a container with the lid sealed shut.

There were 12, but I ate one.

My debit card still isn't working, even though I told the bank multiple times where I was going and when I was leaving. At least I finally got my credit card to work, so if it doesn't put me over my limit I can buy the rest of my books as soon as my classes are finalized. Jane told me that if you don't buy your books early, they sell out and aren't restocked until weeks into the semester. Which reminds me, I should probably e-mail the instructors from my classes that clash now...
