Unexpected steps

August 3, 2011

I ran six miles this morning instead of four just because I was feeling more energetic than usual and I had plenty of time before my Gods, Myths, and Cults tutorial and environmental science practical. The tutorial went well except that it ran late, leaving me only five minutes to get to another building for my practical. Pleased that I made it in time, it didn’t occur to me until the teacher said we would need a ruler and calculator that mine were still sitting safely in my room.

University Hall is where "Terran" lives.

At first I thought maybe I could get by doing the math in my head, but I quickly realised that I would probably not have enough time or brainpower to do 50 long division problems, no matter how simple, in addition to the graphs we had to draw and questions we had to answer afterwards. Pretending to stroll out to the bathroom until I got out the door, I then sprinted the half mile or more back to Rotary, grabbed the necessary tools, and walked as quickly as I could back. Even though I was the last one done, I still think it saved me a lot of time and torture.
