This morning I woke up at 6:24 to a fire alarm, followed by obnoxious music and an RA shouting over the PA system for the cross country run at 7 a.m. After much internal debate, I dragged myself out of bed and headed downstairs where a handful of people from Rotary were. We walked a few minutes to another part of campus to check in, and while we were waiting for it to start I befriended a girl who turns out to be on Stephanie’s floor. I stayed with her for all three miles, so whenever she walked I did too, which I actually didn’t mind as much as I thought I would.
When we got back I checked my e-mail and discovered that my brother had agreed to Skype! It took him about 15 minutes to figure out how (even with my instructions), but I was just happy to be able to talk to him for the first time in months--and hear him admit that Skype was actually pretty cool. It was only 11 a.m. when we ended the conversation, so I headed over to the library to finish up my rock sketches. Sadly, they don’t look that much better in colour. It didn't help that the construction right next to me was so loud it made my ears ring. Why of all buildings do they have to be renovating the one where it's supposed to be the quietest?
Later in the afternoon a woman knocked on my door to give me my census. She was so clueless she had to ask to look at it again after she handed it to me because she couldn’t remember whether it was #75 or #76, which wouldn’t have been so bad if she hadn’t knocked on my door a second time to ask to look at it once more to see what number it was. When I showed her, she seemed surprised and mumbled something about how she must have written 76 too many times. It could just be me, but I felt like that was probably not a good sign...
| You would think they were trying to convince me to vote. |
In the evening I went for a walk with Lian and Stephanie back to the pretty lake so Stephanie could see it and so I could take pictures. Before I went to bed I attempted to read the book I checked out for Gods, Myths, and Cults, but not surprisingly I fell asleep. I suppose I shouldn’t have expected a different outcome since I had only gotten four hours the night before.
| This is so much nicer than circling campus. |
