The black pudding fruit I bought Sunday was finally ripe this morning, so I ate it before I went for a last minute jog. To me it only tasted vaguely of chocolate; it was actually kind of spicy and burned my throat on the way down. In class today Jane gave me fresh basil from their backyard, which might have looked suspicious to people who didn’t know what it was. I didn’t get to talk to her much after class because I still had to read 10 pages in the hour before my Youth, Identity, and Popular Culture tutorial, but I'm so glad I did because the tutor called out those who hadn’t read. Even though it was Friday, there were a lot of people; it appears that I have managed to pick the smallest practicals but the biggest tutorials.
When I checked my student e-mail, I learned that I would be required to fill out the upcoming census, there is a 5k run at 7 a.m. tomorrow, and some club is now offering free rides to the store every Friday at 4:45! My RA had also put up a flyer about it next to the finally updated rubbish bin duty list. I went with Lian and Stephanie and nine others (the van seated 12), two of whom were the boys who helped me crack the coconut. In fact, Tarun was so entertained by the video featuring me smashing it against the table that he posted it on his Facebook today. When we got back from the store, I took advantage of the empty kitchen and made a shepherd’s pie, tahini, and vegan sausage rolls following the recipe Jane gave me. I always thought puff pastry had butter in it until I came across the Australian version of an "accidentally vegan” food list. My life just got a whole lot better!

Gotta love layering!
